MEETS Project

meets

The Collegio Borromeo is the creator and leader of the MEETS: Music in higher education to develop transversal skills project, funded by the Erasmus + program of the European Union.

The project has a dual purpose: research and performative. The aim is to create a useful method for developing soft skills through music, starting from the experience of the Collegio Choir and Orchestra, made up of university students.

In addition to the Collegio Borromeo, five European partners are involved: the University of Linkoöings (Sweden), the University of Valencia (Spain), the University of Tallinn (Estonia), the European Network of University Orchestras (ENUO) and Forte Fortissimo TV, former media partner of the Collegio in the video broadcasting of concerts linked to the internal program.

The first phase of the project, based on study and research, began in early September. It aims to deepen the knowledge of those transversal skills and competences, part of the training curriculum and in great demand also by the world of work, in the belief that music is able to develop them to the maximum.

Among project activities, the Collegio Borromeo will host in Pavia elements from the foreign orchestras and choirs involved, who will make music together with the Collegio Choir and Orchestra. Similarly, students of the Collegio will have the opportunity to visit the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Tallinn for an enriching experience from a human as well as a musical point of view.

The project will also promote new music through a composition competition and an international competition, organized for young choir directors and orchestra conductors.
